Oroflex 60 will increase in length under its' own weight as it is lowered down the borehole. Cables and attachments will also cause the hose to increase in length. This extension is variable along the pipeline given that the load is different at each point. The maximum extension will be at the mouth of the well and the minimum at the pump end. The grpah (Fig 1) shown, shows the relative values of elongation/weight for each given size.

In wells where the depth is greater then 200 metres, lengths of 2" & 3" Oroflex 60 can be joined using a double taper joiner or two BSP connectors joined with a BSP socket.

A convenient way of emptying the hoseline would be to use a break-off plug that is connected to the pump end. The method is simple. A heavy weight is lowered down throught the hose until it rests against the plus. The rope is pulled back 5 metres then dropped down onto the plug breaking it as it impacts. The resultant hole allows the water to flow out of the hose.

Oroflex 60 can supprt any electric cable used to power the pump. For this, special Oroflex straps and buckles must be used, passing the strap through 3 external loops on the hose cover. NB Do not fix more than one cable through each loop.

Allowances must be made to take up any slack in the cable. Equally, too much cable may result in snagging down the borehole. Always take care to ensure that all cables are tied off at the well mouth to prevent them falling into the well and becoming lost.
